About Me

I’m peehu, and when I was five years old, I was diagnosed with a rare, debilitating disease that rendered me unable to write badly. I have since recovered, and I’m now free to write as badly as I want. Some of it still ends up good, though. So watch out for that.
I was born in hazaribagh, but grew up in bits and pieces across cities, from Hong Kong, to Kuwait, Dubai, a Bahá'í boarding school in Panchgani, before finishing the IBDP in Mumbai. My father likes to say, “we’re cosmopolitan.” I've stopped arguing.
There are stories everywhere — in the people I meet, the cultures I move through, and different foods i eat and try to cook, but fail a little too often.
I paint/draw on every surface that will have me, I stitch clothes with scraps of fabric or my old clothes (my mother doesn't like it), and I make all sorts of things with clay, wood, and wires — big and small, useful and otherwise.
One string you could draw through my life is my determination to experiment. I've always been creative at heart, finding new ways to surprise the people around me and sometimes myself, too.
My curiosity has led me down a wide variety of interests, as I try to solve for 1) intellectual fulfillment, 2) impact, and 3) fun. So this gap year, I’ve been exploring it all, reading Sartre’s plays, starting endless creative projects, selling granola and sauces, yoga, and occasionally traveling to towns with more cows than cell towers. And sometimes I try to share what I have learnt.
Some ideas I keep coming back to:
-
Slope > Y-intercept. And change is the only constant.
-
Playing by the rules sucks.
Most rules were built to serve people born with high Y-intercepts. playing games that others designed is often unfair and a waste of time. Designing your own games and writing your own rules isn’t just fun; it’s often the only way to have a high slope. -
Stories > Numbers.
There’s no one you wouldn’t love if you knew their story. So be vulnerable enough to share yours, and empathetic enough to listen to others. A few people believed in me disproportionately, before they had any reason to, those moments changed my life. I will always be loyal to them, and hope to pay it forward.
Most nights, I'm watching Greek tragedies or Isobel Yeung documentaries, or somewhere on blunt rotation of The Sopranos, Succession, and Seth Rogen movies. I leave reviews on Letterboxd/goodreads, share Substacks I haven't finished reading, and will happily have a three-hour conversation about epistemology, dogmatism, or diabetes in India.
I want to measure my life by the impact I create. Someday, that means building things in education, women's financial inclusion, and community. Right now, it means I'm looking for work in microfinance, venture capital, or design/tech— ideally all three, but I've been told I should narrow down.
This site is my little shrine; a space to reflect, make art, and write my thoughts & experiences. I also share the occasional recipe - do try my infamous apple crumble!
P.S. All the items above are bits and bobs from my little world, some I've painstakingly scanned myself, others borrowed from Pinterest.
